AI Usage Blocked By Workforce Policy

Updated: August 11, 2026

Description

Severity: Low

An employee attempted to use an AI service and was blocked by an AI workforce policy.

While the policy worked as intended, repeated blocked attempts indicate demand for AI services that your organisation has restricted. This can highlight gaps in the approved AI tooling available to employees, or attempts to use unapproved services for work tasks.

Example Attack

An employee repeatedly attempts to access a restricted AI chatbot to process customer data. The workforce policy blocks each attempt, but the pattern of attempts reveals that the employee's team lacks an approved tool for the task and may seek unmonitored workarounds such as personal devices.

Remediation

Review which employees and AI services are generating blocked attempts. If demand is legitimate, consider providing an approved alternative service. If attempts persist against clearly communicated policy, follow up with the affected employees or teams to reinforce the acceptable use policy.

Security Frameworks

AI interactions, safety filtering and policy decisions, and inference telemetry must be logged to a structured, interoperable schema to support audit and incident response.
